Joana Vasconcelos presents the site-specific work Valkyrie Mumbet. Developed especially for the opening of the MassArt Art Museum, Boston's new museum, the work was created to honor Elizabeth 'Mumbet' Freeman, a slave woman, whose legal battle for freedom in 1781 helped to outlaw slavery in the US state of Massachusetts.
